Annual Picnic – 22-January-2012

Annual Picnic

The Anavi Ladies organised their annual picnic on the 22nd January 2012. This is our 3rd consecutive picnic which is one of the most looked out for events every New Year.

There were approx 50 picnickers which included children as well. We left for the picnic spot which is in a place called TAKI which is on the opposite side of Bangladesh with the River Icchamati flowing in between the 2 countries. Scenic wise it was an ideal location for a cold winter’s day.

We had one big bus in which everyone fitted in comfortably and we started on our journey at 8.00 am. The distance was around 3 hours from Kolkata. Once everyone was ‘on board’ we began our journey – there was a lot of camaraderie on the bus and once breakfast was served everyone settled down to enjoying the journey to Taki. With music, jokes and chatting the time passed by and we arrived at our destination – TAKI. We were indeed very happy to have Mr Maneesh Pradhan with us and also Mr Amitabh Singh with his family and Mr Rajan Bose and the e Office staff also.

The picnic spot had a huge ground with trees/a pond and tables set up and enough place for the children/adults to play Cricket and Badminton. Snacks of chicken pakoras and veg pakoras were served to all. Everyone enjoyed the place and caught up with lots of news. A trip to a spot which was called Mini Sundarbans was organised and quite a few picnickers enjoyed this trip. There were lovely games organised by Alaka Biswas for the children and prizes were given to the winners.

Lunch was a Bengali fare and sumptuous – the menu included : Rice, Dal, Chicken, Mutton, Fish Fry, Paneer Kofta, Salad and sweets. With the cool winter breeze wafting across the river it was a perfect afternoon for all of us.

Time seemed to just fly and it was almost time for us to return back to our homes in Kolkata. The joy, fun, bonding that we enjoyed during this picnic brought the AESM family of picnickers even closer and a happy lot that returned home safely but not before having a cup of hot tea enroute home. 3 cheers to everyone who made this picnic happen.
