preading happiness is bigger than giving money”. In our urban homes, we may have lot of clothes that do not fit us any more. Clothes donation not only make the lives of under privileged better, but also promote the eco friendly concept of recycling.

It was an enriching, engaging and candid experience for the Class 8 students of Arooja’s Little Stars School, Cochin on 17th February 2020, when they attended the short training sessions organized by ANAVI Cochin chapter.

They say it for a reason that books are your best friends. The best habit we can inculcate in children is reading because “You Become What You Read”.

Keeping this in mind, members of ANAVI Kochi chapter decided to set up a library in one of the schools in Kochi. St. Michael’s Lower Primary School located on the coastal highway of Kochi was chosen in September 19′. Over a period of 45 days, our members collected 650 books.

KCYM ( Kerala Catholic Youth movement of Cochin Diocese ) who will be distributing the same in the flood affected areas of Wayanad district of Northern Kerala. We were also featutred in Facebook post ( in Malayalam) by KCYM Diocese Cochin thanking our assistance.

ANAVI, a charitable society, supported and run by the employees and the families of Anglo-Eastern Ship Management India, constructed and handed over new Anganawadi to the tribal people.

A blood donation camp organised by AE- ANAVI team Cochin was successfully conducted on 27-Jul-2019 at Lourdes Hospital, Kochi.

The blood donors mainly constituted of Cochin office staff and members of the seafaring community with their friends and relatives. The success of this social, initiative has ensured many such events in the future.

ANAVI has undertaken the construction of an Anganvadi (Nursery school) building at Attappady tribal colony, in Kerala. The ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ (Foundation stone laying ceremony) was performed on the site on 17th Jan 2019.

Beginning on 15 August 2018, Kerala, the southernmost state of India, witnessed severe floods due to unusually high rainfall during the monsoon season. It was the worst flooding in Kerala in nearly a century. Conditions in Kerala were really bad with most of the places either under water or destroyed due to landslides. Other than government organizations many local teams were contributing in the rescue operations and supplying of materials in rescue camps. Immediately all the Anglo Eastern families were called to ensure their safety & wellbeing when we realized that many of our on leave AE sailors were actively volunteering in rescue & relief operations.

Kerela, the “God’s own country” was devastated by floods during the month of August in 2018. This was the worst flood to hit the state in over a century. A calamity of such nature required Herculean effort during and after the floods. Contributions and help came in from Anglo-Eastern offices across the country and abroad.
