It is good to be back doing what we do best. It is still a long way to go before things are “normal” again but Anavi members are positive about doing their best in spite the challenges.
One of our goals this year is to make a bigger impact. In Voice of World we have such a partner who shares a similar vision.
Anavi members visited the institute in January to give the monthly supply of 75 litres of mustard oil. At the premises in Behala, Voice of World runs a primary school. The school roof and structure were badly damaged during the last year’s cyclone, Amphan which created havoc in Kolkata. Voice of World has managed to get the roof repaired and are keen to start classes there.
Anavi has proposed to run the school with them. The model followed will be similar to Janvi-Anavi school at Mumbai. They will present us a proposal and after discussion with Anavi Mumbai we will finalise the project. We believe this project that can really help us make a big impact in lives of the underprivileged.
Voice of World also run a school cum boarding centre at Saltighat. They teach not only blind children but also other children from underprivileged background with limited mental ability. Anavi members also visited that centre on 1st March to assess if we could take up a long term project there. Further discussion about that will happen once a proposal is received from Voice of World.
Anavi members also visited an old age home at Barul (about 30 kms) from Kolkata. A few sarees were donated to the inmates there.
After a long hiatus where the ability to visit the centre was greatly restricted, Anavi has started the new year with a zeal to make a greater impact and become stronger in our vision to make a kinder society.
Hope to bring some cheer this year to the ones who were most affected.
