Visit to Nabaneer School – 31-July-2012

Visit to Nabaneer School

We the members of Anavi went to Nabaneer school on 31st July, We went there around 4 PM as advised by their headmistress Sumita’di. We had a discussion with the teachers on ways to improve the method of teaching. The students of this non formal school comes from extremely socially and economically challenged background, where school education is of little importance. Whatever they are learning in the school time is all that they can learn, as, once back home they do not even get minimal encouragement to revisit whatever they were taught in the meagre time of 2 or 3 hours spent at school. The only silver lining on such dark clouds are a few kids who really are worthy of mention for their intelligence and sharpness, which are exhibited by their words or actions. The same is of immense encouragement to us and other children as well to take ahead our crusade.

However, as mentioned earlier, reality in all its grimness, still remains that majority of the children lack the psyche to grasp whatever is being taught by traditional means. Subsequent to such observations, voiced by the teachers who are deep into the system for quite a long time now, we suggest introduction of alternate means of imparting education with the help of audio visual means. Consequently, in addition to the fixed contribution of Rs 4500/- being made by us on a monthly mode we would need an additional investment of non-recurring nature to be able to procure some audio visual equipments, which would act as a fillip to our activity. The same would be discussed at length in our next meeting.
