Visit to Nabaneer
Parivaar visited Nabaneer on the 17th July and served the old ladies lunch. There are 45 inmates and all over 70 years of age. This home is in Tollygunge and it was indeed our privilege to be able to visit this home on a Saturday afternoon and spend quality time with the grand old ladies. This home has 3 floors and the ladies are truly old and very nice with good memories and smiles on their faces. It was privilege for us to have 2 husbands – Debshish Chatterjee and Himadri Biswas along with our 2 young members Disha De and Nikita Mendonca who enjoyed chatting with the ladies and brought many a smile on their faces. Whilst talking to the ladies we asked them how they liked living in this home away from their families and they all said the same thing we enjoy the peace and freedom in our new home.
When we decided to visit this home we asked them what they would like us to do for them – they all said lunch would be welcome and that too a Hilsa lunch – now Hilsa fish is a Bengali favourite and very tasty during the monsoon so they chose well – we served them the following menu :
Basmati rice, Moong Dal, Vegetable with Hilsa fish head, Hilsa fish cooked in mustard, Papad, Chutney, Sweets
The food was well prepared and whilst having their lunch the ladies told us it was tasty and loved the Hilsa fish. It was indeed a pleasure to serve them and see them enjoy their food – this small gesture on Parivaar’s part brought loads of happiness and joy to these inmates.
We have decided to continue visiting this home and sharing our joy with them and their smiles with us. May God bless this home and the inmates and Parivaar too.
