It is never possible for an ordinary person to imagine what a cancer patient goes through. We often come across stories in media about celebrities who have fought and conquered cancer. We applaud them and take inspiration from them. It must be though going through some like that.

But nobody talks about these children. Some of them born with the disease and in a home where they sometimes find it difficult to make the two ends meet. All of them have their faces covered, their heads are shaved and they are all going through cancer treatment. Their mothers stay with them. They smile when we talk with them, they are happy to see us, but the sadness in their eyes is impossible to miss. Some of them know that their child is never going to make it through and lead a normal life. Sometimes it is the disease but many a times it is the money.

The funds were collected thorough personal donations by the Anavi members. It may be a small amount, but as Dr Gupta pointed out, this is going to be a big help in our efforts towards helping these children.

It is through these small things that Anavi, in its fifth year now and also spreading its wings in Mumbai, has always tried to make a difference in lives of these people for whom every day is a struggle with life.
