Durga Puja Celebrations with a difference

Celebrations and festivals around the country are being celebrated albeit in a conservative manner.
For the underprivileged, there is nothing much to be happy about. Anavi has tried to do its bit to bring home some cheer to these families.
Like very year, we distributed clothes to the children of Topsia Creche. Additionally this year, we also distributed food items to them. The students coming to Topsia creche are children of laborers and daily wage earners whose earnings and lives have been badly affected by the pandemic.
Packets consisting of soya chunks, chana, sattu and biscuits along with new clothes were distributed among all the students.
This small contribution on our part has gone a long way in helping these needy people in the times of such crises. That they were happy would be an understatement. The smiles on the faces of the little children made our day!
Due to the norms of social distancing and safety protocols, only a few of the members made the visit and best practices followed to ensure hygiene. Visits are being limited and most of our contributions are done in contactless way even at other institutes.

Wishing everyone a safe festive season.

As we navigate through one of the most challenging periods, the need to support the underprivileged has never been more crucial. Anavi has done its bit to help out the institutions that we support.

Among the steps undertaken recently –

Anavi arranged for funds transfer to the institutes for their day to day running
Groceries supply was outsourced and cashless transactions carried out to ensure contactless supply
Sanitary kits given to 100 ladies from underprivileged areas
Members were in touch with the institutes to appraise themselves of the needs of the institutes and provide any additional help as possible
Anavi meetings are being conducted using Zoom to plan for activities that can be conducted
Face mask and hand sanitizers were distributed among the inmates of Voice of World and Apon Ghar in month of September. Members also visited these institutes to speak to the caretakers and inmates about further help that can be extended
Oximeters have been procured and will be given to institutes very soon

Welcome 2020 – Doing more and better of what we do best

Anavi members began the new decade with great enthusiasm. And we had good reason to do so. As we begin another decade of spreading cheer and hope across different cities, we have begun this year with a promise to make significant improvements in the lives of those not as fortunate as ourselves.

First step in this direction was taken at the monthly meeting where we decided to go ahead with the renovation work at Pratyusha home. This is a institute run by Voice of World for visually impaired and destitute girls. Anavi has stepped forward to undertake the repairs in phase wise manner of this institute. Work will begin in first week of February 2020. Watch this space for more on that.

Christmas and New Year’s Celebrations with a difference

Anavi members at Kolkata – following the tradition of celebrating with a difference – chose to make the Christmas celebrations extra special for the children at Cremers Foundation Sarsuna and Voice of World.

Members visited the institute on 24th December and shared the lunch with them. This was the monthly lunch that Anavi sponsors for the children of the institute. What made the day extra special for all of us was the amazing performance by the girls. Besides studies, Anavi has always encouraged extra-curricular activities for all round development of the children.

Celebrating Children’s Day -Visits to Cremers Foundation and Voice of World

Anavi made the Children’s Day celebration extra special for the girls at Cremers Foundation , Sarsuna. The monthly lunch menu comprised of their favorites chilly chicken and fried rice. The extra fruits provided as a part of the celebrations made it unforgettable for them. Anavi members always look forward to this day of the month. They get a chance to interact with these wonderful girls who are overcoming great odds to make their lives better. Some of their stories are truly inspiring.

Our second visit of the month was at Voice of World to supply the monthly ration of 75 litres mustard oil. Positivity of those blind under privileged always rubs off on us. It is with a great sense of gratitude that we depart each time filled with motivation to do better.

Puja Celebrations

Anavi has always believed in having celebrations with a difference. Be it any festival or our anniversary. Continuing the tradition of spreading cheer to the under privileged during the season of Durga Puja and Diwali, we organized our visits to two of the institutes that have long been part of the Anavi family.

First up was Topsia Creche. Anavi members visited the institute and distributed new clothes to the 30 odd children at the school. We have a long association with this institute since our early days. Every year during the Durga Puja we distribute a new set of clothes to the children there. The children studying there are from very poor backgrounds with parents working as day laborers and maids. Even a small gift brings sparkle in their eyes. Their gratitude is our gift.
