Class at Rashmee School
My class with the children of Rashmee school on the 21st April 12 was as always a beautiful experience – the children were busy with their home work whilst the teacher Shatabdi was checking their books – They are well mannered and wished me when I arrived with big smiles on their faces but got down to their studies immediately. Their subjects in which they are coached are English/History/Bengali/Science/Maths. Bengali is their strong point. The classes the children are from Class I to Class IV.
The children are well mannered and when they need to drink water due to the humid weather they ask the teacher’s permission first. It was a sense of pride to have the ANAVI Flex displayed during the class.
I had the pleasure of seeing their books and checking their work on that evening – one has to applaud these children who are from a Bustee area and are probably the first generation in their families to be educated and will positively make a difference to Society one day.
The children were so excited to recite for me and recited a Poem my Rabindranath Tagore and then Hey Diddle Diddle – the Cat & The Fiddle & Johnny Johnny Yes Papa in English.
To refresh the members – the school is taking Rs.700/- per month as rent for the space provided in Selimpur and the teacher Shatabdi is being given Rs.125/- per Saturday when the classes are held.
The children all take Dance classes and have promised to put up a small Concert for us in November 12 when they will perform a Dance & Song programme for Anavi Members/Benefactors. We shall look forward to this occasion.
