First in line were Nabneer School and Sarsuna School on 13th April. Both these institutes are on top of our list with regards to our vision of imparting a better education to the underprivileged children. Repairs at Nabneer School are in full swing despite the scorching heat in Kolkata. We expect the repair work to complete by May. Since computer classes at Sarsuna have met with a very positive response, we have taken the next step to start English classes as well. The classes have begun from 15th April. Also, the library set up at Sarsuna by Anavi has also been very popular with the children. More books have also come in by way of donations by many generous individuals as well as those given by members.

On 20th April we organized our overdue visit to Topsia Creche. The children are always eager to meet the aunties of Anavi. This time we brought along food packets for all the children – chips,cake,juice and biscuits. Rations were handed over to the care takers for the daily needs of the children. These included dalia, assorted biscuits and milk powder. This was Anavi’s way of celebrating Poila Boishakh (Bengali New Year) with the children.

Our final visit of the month was to Voice of the world institute.This is a new association for us and we feel even small support from us will help bring a significant change in the lives of the many inmates of this institute. We took along 75 litres of mustard oil and biscuit packets as rations. We hope in future Anavi will play a bigger role in helping them lead better lives.

The first month of this financial year has kept the members very busy and we expect nothing less from the remaining months. Good wishes and support of our donors have helped us really surge ahead in our mission. Hoping to continue the good work !
