Annual Picnic
“I always try to make sure I am able to attend this picnic. I attended first time in 2011 and since then I have never missed any. I plan my contracts that way, but don’t tell my wife, she thinks I do it to attend her birthday :)”
The above was overheard at the picnic organised by Anavi on 19th Jan 2014 at Ibiza resort near Kolkata. It is a no surprise that this picnic has become a favorite with the people who have attended it .The day started with meeting at a common point and then proceeding to the picnic spot which is about an hour’s drive on the southern outskirts of the city. Agenda of the day was FUN. This was not only a great way for the seafarer’s to enjoy with their families but also an occasion to get together with their colleagues. In between games for kids and adults, the discussions ranged from politics in the state and country to the latest Salman Khan blockbuster.
“There is too much food yaar, how much can one person eat so much.”The kebabs and finger food were delicious. The lunch was very much appreciated, especially the desserts. Sweets have always been a weakness for people from this part of the country. After the evening tea the people were ready to leave.
The annual picnic is not only an event for a get together, but also an important event in the Anavi calendar. It is the time when we tell other about Anavi and its activities. It is one of the days when we make new members and get new donors. Anavi is in its fifth year now and it is the good wishes and support of seafarers of Anglo Eastern that has got us here. People were very happy to hear that Anavi has begun a Mumbai chapter thanks to initiative of Mr. Maneesh Pradhan and support from Capt. Vinay Singh and other senior managers.
With the best wishes for a great 2014 for Anavi and promise of a better picnic next year, we said goodbye!
