Multiple Visits
Last month in June Anavi celebrated its birthday with the children at Sarsuna School. Continuing this tradition of celebration with a difference Anavi’s newest member Mrs. Indrani Saha made her birthday memorable with the inmates at Ramola Bhavan and Apon Ghar.
Both these institutes have had a long association with Anavi and any visit by the members is always looked forward to by the oldies. Most of these ladies have only each other and even a small amount of time spent with these ladies brings cheers and smiles on their faces. Sumptuous lunch was organized for the inmates. That they thoroughly enjoyed was evident from their enthusiastic response. “Let me enjoy the sweets, it’s her birthday, let the doctor go to #@%^! “, one of them remarked to the caretaker. That these ladies can still pack a punch was pleasantly surprising.
The blessings received are probably the best birthday gift anyone can ask for. A visit to these old age homes is like a reality check in these modern times but also fills us with a sense of satisfaction that we have been able to do something at least to make their day better.
Another project that will bring us a great sense of pride is the Cremers foundation project at Sarsuna School. We have nearly completed the repair job and it was heartening to see the Cremers foundation and Anavi names on the plaque put up outside the proposed computer room. We hope to finish the remaining work very soon and to start the classes by September this year.
The members are now busy in making sure the Annual Blood Donation Camp to be held at AESM office on the 25th of July a grand success. Posters have already been put up at the Pushpanjali Chambers office as well as other prominent training institutes of Kolkata. Members are trying their best to get as many to turn up for the event as possible. Here’s to beating our own record!
